Bath and Body Works Charmed Life Lotion Review


These days, IMBB is the place I come to before deciding whether to buy a product or not. The commercials will always be misleading. Also, I am happy to be contributing reviews of products that I have used and hope it is of help! Today, I am reviewing the cute little travel-size body lotion from Bath and Body works – Charmed Life.

I used to get these lotions and shower gels as gifts from friends and relatives who would visit the US, but ever since, the Indian market has been flooded by imported brands, the cosmetics as gifts have also stopped. However, Bath and Body Works never came to India. I still depend on someone who is travelling abroad to get them for me. This bottle was a gift from a friend.

Looks:

It comes in a small 59 ml white plastic bottle with a flip-open cap. The front sticker is shiny and has a lot of colors and elements on it ( a golden bow, a ring, colored bubbles).

Price:

This was bought during the preview when the product was just launched. It was being sold at $1 then. The current price on the website is $3.50 for the travel size and $10 for 236 ml.

Claims:

There is not much on the packaging. The website however claims and I quote:

“Our exclusive Signature Body Lotion formula is fortified with powerful ingredients like super conditioning shea butter, fast absorbing Jojoba Oil and protective Vitamin E to hydrate skin with moisture that lasts all day. Our non-greasy formula absorbs quickly and completely to leave skin feeling incredibly soft, smooth and nourished, making it the perfect daily moisturizer.”

My Experience with Bath and Body Works Charmed Life Lotion:

It is a moderately thick body lotion that has a very fruity smell. I would like to say a bubble-gummy smell, actually, in accordance with their claim, the effect of the lotion actually lasts long, close to 4-5 hours, not overtly strong, but pleasant; however, the scent is not like their Juniper Breeze or Sweet Pea, which just makes your day; but it is not bad either. It also moisturizes well. I don’t really suffer from very dry skin. I stay in Bangalore and it is not very chilly here yet. This lotion takes care of my daily moisturizing ritual and the skin feels really soft and pampered the whole day.

Pros of Bath and Body Works Charmed Life Lotion:

  • Fruity fragrance.
  • Works magic on the skin, the skin feels very supple after applying it.
  • The scent lingers through the day.
  • Bath and Body Works products are not tested on animals.
  • The lotion contains Vitamin E, shea butter and jojoba oil.
  • The travel-sized pack fits into my bag easily.
  • The flip open cap is easy and convenient to handle.
  • At the $1 price it was bought, it is a good deal.
  • A bunch of these in a hamper would make a great gift!

Cons of Bath and Body Works Charmed Life Lotion:

  • The only thing that I can think of is that since it does not have SPF, I would have to apply my sunscreen over it and it would mask the fragrance.
  • It is difficult to pinpoint exactly what the lotion smells of.
  • Also, one more major grouse is that it is not available in India. We don’t really have too many products in India selling body lotions in shower gels in such a wide variety of fragrances.

Come on Bath and Body Works people, this is the place for your company to sell!
I have two of these bottles and I am using them economically until I can find someone to pick up a next batch from Bath and Body Works.
